ABOUT LOUD BARK

The Loud Bark Company was started with a single idea: If timber has been used for centuries to enhance the sound of musical instruments such as guitar, violin, cello, double bass, flute, recorder, pan pipes, didjeridoo and various kinds of drums, why can't it be used to make a microphone that enhances the sound of the harmonica?

So we went to work with the materials that we love, Australian Timbers.

While the search for suitable Timbers is never ending, we have some that add beautiful warm tones to the sound of a harp.

These include Yellowbox, the very rare Jarrah from South Western Australia and our favourite timber for Mics, Australian Cypress from Northern Victoria.

OUR MICROPHONES

Loud Bark is an Australian Company based in Victoria that manufactures microphones from Australian timbers.

Timbers are chosen for both their physical beauty and their acoustic properties.

The design of our mic bodies and element cavities combines synergistically to provide maximum impact on the tonal quality while drastically reducing feedback thus allowing the user to use previously impossible levels of gain and volume with their equipment.

While Loud Bark originally designed and built microphones specifically for harmonicas they also excell with Saxophones, Trumpets, Trombones and many other instruments.

At Loud Bark we are constantly improving our microphone design and construction and lately Loud Bark Mics have also been used for vocals and vocal effects with GREAT SUCCESS. See our Links page for some wonderful examples of vocal and instrument Loud Barking provided by our satisfied customers.

Most of the timber that we use for making our mics is over 40 years old.

Some of the timber was even around while Robert Johnson was making his famous recordings in the 1930's in Texas.
